What you can do if you're planning to have pictures taken.

As a photographer myself, I know one of the most frustrating things is explaining your value to a potential client. I am by no means a professional, but I do know what my time, energy and love put into the pictures I take are worth. I have seen many other photographers struggle or get upset over the same issue. The travel, time taking pictures, communicating, editing, delivering and advertising yourself, its not a cake walk. Especially when you get a comment like:

"Your prices are pretty steep.." or "Cant you lower your prices..?"

Sooo Immma vent

Tell and I had pictures taken of us back in January by Mrs. Molly Stevens owner of

For The West & Wild Photography The pictures were a DREAM.. and Molly was an absolute doll from day one. She kept in touch with me until the day we had the session. She used her resources and kept everything so organized for me. I've never felt so comfortable in front of the camera (and I can speak for Tell as well- because she even had him smiling). You honestly get what you put into it. If you want just some quick pictures for Facebook or your social pages to share with friends and family and don't want to spend and money thats fine. But if you want pictures to have printed and to last a lifetime or to share with your great grandkids.

Invest.

Don't just invest in the photographer though. Invest in the whole experience. I had my outfits planned out ahead of time, made sure Tell had his shirts and pants starched and ready to go, scheduled to have my hair an makeup done and we even brushed and cleaned up the three year old. lol.

But why? Why do so much preparation for just pictures?

Trying on outfits for hours on end can be annoying.. yes I agree. It is almost necessary to plan time out of your day just for it. But this is something for you. You're doing something for yourself so invest in it. Take the time to find the right shoes or ask a friend to raid their closet (shout out to Alyssa- you're amazing and so are your clothes). Make sure you're comfortable and happy with what you're wearing. Use pinterest for ideas or try to find inspiration from instagram accounts. Make sure your man is prepped. If that means making sure his shirts are ready and cleaned or just reminding him 100 times until the day of the pictures. My boyfriend works and works a lot so he can get scatter brained from time to time so if I can help him, it'll make the process go much smoother. If you can, schedule to have your hair and/or make up done. This is so relaxing to me and takes the stress off everything. I had Brittany Miller do my hair and makeup and I'm so glad she did because I could never do as good a job as her. If you can't find anything in your price range, ask a

friend or buy some false lashes if you don't normally wear them to make yourself feel a little extra. Give yourself that confidence. This can totally set the mood or tone for the session. Feeling and having everything put together, can allow your to just relax and enjoy the moments verses feeling scrambled or not put together. I truly believe you get what you put into something. There are amazing photographers that charge different amounts and have different creative styles. Find the one that works for you and don't hassle the ones who wont lower their prices. Fun Fact: some photographers actually do discounted sessions. YUP. Depending on their travel schedule or whats going on they may offer mini sessions or even do a "model call" where you can have pictures taken too. Be patient, do your research, plan, plan, plan and enjoy picture day. It's suppose to be fun and real to you. Get to know your photographer or even bring another person to help look over your outfits and help carry clothes or hold any critters you may bring along (another shoutout to Alyssa).

Theres my rant. Now i'm going to show off practically this whole album because i'm so in love. Thank you Molly for not only capturing us but creating memories for Tell and I to look back on. Can't wait for the day I give you a call to do our wedding.
